Q: Should I send more than one photo?

A: You should send at least 5 original photos. Linda will look at the photos and discuss with you which one she thinks will make the best painting.

Q: What qualities should I look for when selecting my photos?

A: Clear, not blurry. The more detail the better. Good color - the artist needs to see skin tone, hair color, and eye color. Excellent likeness - the painting won't look like the person if the photo doesn't. A natural expression. Sunglasses or hats that shade the eyes are not recommended. Size - larger photos provide more detail.

Q: Can I use individual photos and put two people together in one painting?

A: This is possible, but very difficult. The two photos must have a lot of similar qualities, especially lighting.

Q: Can you change the color of the clothing?

A: This is possible, and sometimes recommended if it will help the composition.

Q: Can you change the background?

A: The background is almost always modified in order to make the portrait more effective. Linda typically paints the background more vague in order to enhance focus on the subject.

Q: Can I choose a horizontal or vertical painting?

A: Yes, but in general, it is best to stay with the direction of the photo.

Q: Can I use a black & white photo?

A: Not unless you want a black & white painting.

Q: Can I cut out an image from a photo and have that painted?

A: Yes, but this usually means the image will be too small to reveal enough detail.
